  • L’Hitraot from Rabbi Kirschen

    On behalf of NFTY in Israel, again thank you for sharing your remarkable young people with us this summer. It was privilege to learn with them, take care of them, and grow with them over these past weeks. Rabbi Isaac in the Talmud said, "I have learned much from my teachers, and even more from my friends, but the most I have learned, is from are my students.” We have learned much from these participants this summer, and now that they are home, we are sure you will too.

  • My IDF Experience

    Over the last four days of our Israel experience, I spent my time in Gadna, an IDF simulation for teens. Before we left for the trip, an Israeli commander came to our hostel and talked to us about what to expect. I was extremely anxious because the video she showed us painted Gadna out to be very intimidating and physically and emotionally harsh. I came into it with a completely negative attitude because I was very nervous about what was in store for me.

  • Bike It Up

    The past four days in Yam L'Yam (my Chavaya choice) were an amazing experience of hiking, biking, and camping. We started off our adventure with a water hike that went all the way up to our waist and even higher for some people. Although it was extremely hot outside and the water was murky, we all felt refreshed during the hike. We finished our hike by trekking through a marked path in order to get to our campsite.

  • A Tale of Two Kotels……

    This past Wednesday I had the extraordinary privilege to accompany two hundred NFTYites to pray at the Kotel, the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem. The Western Wall as you know is one of the most powerful symbols for the endurance of the Jewish people.
