  • L’Hitraot from Rabbi Kirschen

    On behalf of NFTY in Israel, again thank you for sharing your remarkable young people with us this summer. It was privilege to learn with them, take care of them, and grow with them over these past weeks. Rabbi Isaac in the Talmud said, "I have learned much from my teachers, and even more from my friends, but the most I have learned, is from are my students.” We have learned much from these participants this summer, and now that they are home, we are sure you will too.

    This past Wednesday I had the extraordinary privilege to accompany two hundred NFTYites to pray at the Kotel, the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem. The Western Wall as you know is one of the most powerful symbols for the endurance of the Jewish people.

Our hope is to create Jewish memories that inspire the participants to feel a part of the Jewish Community and to care for its future as happy, proud members and maybe even a leader in the next generation of our people – L'Dor V'Dor (from Generation to Generation).

  • Yad Va’Shem

    Today we went to Yad VaShem, the Israeli holocaust museum. It was a profoundly awe-inspiring experience. The trip started with a speaker who was a holocaust survivor who was best friends with Anne Franke. It was crazy to have that real world connection to a story that I had heard so many times.

    Yesterday, Sunday, the Group began the “Kishrey Noar” segment of the NFTY in Israel Program. “Kishrey Noar” is Hebrew for “Youth Connections,” and for many of the American Teens, this is a highlight of the summer in Israel.     This week has been a blur...when we left you last we were just about to get to Akko. There we were able to see some unique perspectives, as it is a predominantly Arab city. After running around to see an Arab market as well as a beautiful mosque, a restful Shabbat was just what we needed!
