While touring Jerusalem, we visited a fascinating startup creating a product called the Orcam. It’s essentially a small camera, microphone, and speaker mounted with magnets onto a pair of glasses. Using voice, touch, or gesture commands you can get it to read text of all kinds, from magazines to road signs, as well as recognize faces! It’s mostly made for the visually impaired, but one point of discussion that came up was its possible use as a translator. We tried the voice, touch, and gesture commands ourselves, and it was incredibly responsive! I can’t wait to see even more startups in Israel!
